Am I going to jail for my charges?
While the Kane County Courthouse in St. Charles is as nice as any local courthouse, nobody wants to have to go there. Nobody wants to have to go to court anywhere. Especially criminal court.
Unlike civil court, where one person might sue another person for money, the stakes in criminal court are higher. That’s not to say that a big money law suit isn’t high stakes. There are no higher stakes than you freedom, though- and that’s what is at stake in criminal court.
Nobody chooses to get charged with a crime. The government files charges against you when they want and when it works for them- not when it’s convenient for you. Is that fair?
Charges in criminal court can be either felonies or misdemeanors. Either can get you locked up. Neither is fun. Matthew J. Haiduk is experienced and aggressive when it comes to helping people with felonies or misdemeanors.
