Worried a DUI will ruin your life?
Relax. Nobody wants to be arrested for DUI. Nobody. It is not a good thing. A sense of fear is natural, and not necessarily a bad thing. Being paralyzed with fear, however, is a bad thing. It happens a lot, too
Paralyzing fear will not help. Lying awake at night wondering if a DUI will ruin your life only makes it worse. There are things you can do to help yourself. Many people with DUI cases end up being ordered to complete a state approved DUI evaluation. They will also need to follow the counseling recommended in that evaluation. That process is completely separate from court and the fist thing to do is talk to a lawyer that is right for your case
Feeling a little helpless about your DUI? Worried that the DUI will ruin your record? Many of the McHenry County prosecutors like to see the counseling done before it is ordered. Do you want to help yourself? You can not change the results of the breath test or field sobriety tests. You can go get an evaluation, though. Consider going for your evaluation immediately.
Things your DUI evaluator will need:
Your Driving History
The counselor will want to see a copy of your “court purposes” driver’s abstract. You can obtain one from any Secretary of State’s office. McHenry County’s only Secretary of State office is in Woodstock, south of the courthouse.[/span6]
If you submit or refused the chemical test, your evaluator will want to know what the result was. Most of the time this will be on the official paperwork the police give you when you are arrested. Your word alone is not enough.
